New Front Door Training Nights

Event Date:
Jun 27 2018 - 7:30pm - 9:30pm

New Front Door presents Training Nights each year, to give professional-quality IT training to both our existing clients and any other ministries that might benefit. We are blessed with presenters who not only have IT expertise, but have also thought long and hard about how to apply this to the unique context of Christian ministry.

In 2018 our Training Nights covered the topic of Elvanto

More and more churches are signing up to use the Elvanto Church Management Software to help them better care for the people in their ministry, and to save time on unnecessary administrative work.

But how do I get that roster feature to work properly? What's the best way to use People Flows? And how to we make sure we have set the how system up in the most effective way? How do we encourage a culture in which the software is used responsibly and meaningfully.

In these sessions, Mikey Lynch and Christian de Kievit, who have had experience in helping multiple ministries get started with Elvanto, talked through some basics of a health 'Elvanto Culture' in your ministry and explore some basics about using common features like Groups, Services and People Flows. There was also be an extended Q&A time to answer particular questions.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email our Event Manager at eventmanager@vision100.org .

Humble & Hungry

Suffering, Serving and Leading the church of God

Peter Ko and Rory Shiner will be unpacking the servant songs from the book of Isaiah. Our evening sessions will involve experienced church planting leaders working through the 'how to' for reproducing leaders, developing a mission culture, becoming a church planting church and the responses to and challenges of secularism in Australia.

Rory is senior pastor of Providence Church in Perth, Western Australia. He studied English and Anthropology at UWA and, as a consequence, has mainly worked in cafes and kebab shops.

His ministry has included pastoring, church planting, local and international student ministry and more recently ministry amongst those who live and/or work in the inner city of Perth. He has written books on union with Christ and the resurrection of Jesus, and is currently researching the life and thought of Australian Christian leader Donald Robinson.

Peter Ko

Peter is a church planter and pastor amongst the growing migrant communities in Sydney’s multiethnic south-west (South-West CCC). He is also the Chairman of RICE (Renewal and Inter-Church Evangelism), a high school and young adults ministry to reach, equip and refresh the thousands of second and third generation Asians in Sydney.

Peter is a graduate of Moore Theological College and a member of the Australian Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). Peter is married to Karen and they have four primary school aged children.

V100 IT Training Night - Keeping Kids Safe with Computers

Event Date:
Nov 16 2016 - 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Not only is the world a scary place, but with the internet that scary world gets into our homes... and with smart phones it gets into our pockets! Like so many things, the internet generally and social media in particular has power to do great good for the world and for our children as well as great harm.

Much that we can read and hear about this topic fills us with fear, and burdens us with elaborate technological tools and detailed family rules to try keep our kids completely safe.

By contrast, this IT Training Night aims to bring a holistic but do-able approach to caring for the kids in our churches. We are convinced that understanding, communication and boundaries are the things that set the right culture for our kids to grow up in. We need to do what we can to keep them safe, but also prepare them for those circumstances we can't shield them from completely.

This event is for parents, wider family, support people and church leaders: to help us all think about how we can care for the kids in our churches with wisdom and realism

  • When: 7:30-9:30pm, Wednesday 16th November
  • Where: The Loft, Wellspring, Sandy Bay (Enter by Grosvenor St entrance, go right, up the stairs just past admin desk)
  • Cost: $20 to cover both event and administrative costs (Snacks included). We recommend churches subsidise their delegates.
  • Register: Registrations are Closed.

Des studied history and law at the University of Tasmania and practiced as a lawyer for four and a half years before going into full-time ministry. He talks incessantly, and the few things that can shut him up include reading, cooking and looking guiltily at the road bike he always means to ride but never does. Des loves telling people about Jesus and is looking forward to talking (a lot) about him at the Tasmanian Ministry Training Conference.
